Please note there is a venue change for Tuesday 29th Sept.
18.30 Coppull Lane. (Latics are playing a home game)
Meet at the top of Coppull lane next to Swinley Labour Club, which is between Tesco and Wigan Infirmary at the top of Central Park Way.
There is some parking around the club.
2 hours free parking on Tesco. The parking on Wigan lane is free after 18.00 (please check the meters before you leave your car).
Also, Darren Horrocks has advised of plenty parking off Standishgate, which is on the other side of the main road opposite The Swinley. There is a tunnel between 12 and 14 Lord street that leads to the
carpark around the back.
If the car park fills up, Lord Street itself has 2 hours free parking on the right hand side (one way street), and the next street over, Charles Street, has the same but on the left.
Training this Thursday 6th August will be held at Haigh Hall due to a match at the DW Stadium. Normal meeting place, 7pm start. Don’t be late but if you are make your way up to the play area above the hall for the usual muscle stretch out!
Latics are playing a home game on Tuesday this week so training will move to Coppull Lane for the legendary HILL SESSIONS Come on, you know you want to!
Meet at Swinley Labour Club WN1 2LQ 18.30. There is some parking available around the club. You can also park on Wigan Lane and near the Monument after 17.00 (please check the restrictions before you leave your car) There is also 2 hours on Tesco. If you are late, we will have gone for a warm up to the Cherry Gardens and back.
Its a sure sign that Spring is almost here when we are able to switch the Tuesday night session from the stadium up to the leafy environs of Haigh Hall. As from Tuesday 9th April we will be taking advantage of the lighter nights to resume training around the paths and tracks of Haigh Country Park.
The meeting point will be the Hall itself with the warm up starting at 6.15pm. We will then re-group outside the Hall before starting the session proper at 6.30pm.
Anyone who can make the session is encouraged to do so. The softer tracks around Haigh are an ideal surface for avoiding injury, and we couldnt have a more pictureque place to train. Depending on the weather over the next few weeks we may even begin some short intervals entirely on grass.
Parking: There is usually plenty of parking available on Hall Lane, or for those travelling from the M61, along Higher Lane up to the “2 tonne bridge” Those using the car park near the golf club be warned that parking charges still apply in the evening.
Please Note: Tuesday night saw the last of the much loved hill sessions at Swinley and we now move to the track for the next few weeks. Harriers will be meeting up from 6 to 6.15pm for a series of interval style efforts at Robin Park Arena.
There is a charge of around £3 for access to the track so please remember to bring some cash with you. Discounts are applied for anyone with a Lifestyle card and/or a Wigan Harriers membership.
