Wigan Trail 10k News

shonaWith less than a fortnight left until race day we have already broken all previous attendance records for the Trail 10k, with somewhere in the region of 200 runners expected. It ought to be a superb atmosphere on race day with so many people taking on the challenge. There is still a little bit of time left to  secure your pie and peas before we close pre-entries on the Sunday 25th but be quick! Entry on the day will be available but you will have to buy your own pie and peas, but be warned – this is Wigan and the pies will run out faster than our race leaders!

The bumper numbers this year do present one or two things to consider. All race numbers are to be collected on the day, so with such a big turn out it would be a good idea to turn up a little earlier than you may have planned to get your pre-race preparation complete – including queuing up for that race number!

Registration will open at the club house at 9:30am. The 2.5k fun run sets off at 10:30, with the 10k following at 11am. Do make sure you give yourself plenty of time to park up and get ready before the off. We would recommend at least 45 minutes before race time.

Parking: There is limited parking available at the cub house but that will fill quickly. Once its full we will have a marshal directing people away from the club to park in the surrounding streets. This is a residential area so please be considerate when parking: no blocking peoples drives etc! We do rely on the goodwill of the locals to run this event so we don’t want to inconvenience them more than necessary.

And finally – don’t forget to bring your best smile for our free on-course photographers to capture as you pass!
