Arguably the biggest fixture of our cross country season takes place this Saturday with the 2nd round of the British Athletics Cross Challenge at Sefton Park. Over 1500 runners will assemble at the Liverpool venue with clubs from all over the UK sending teams to compete. Some of the leading names in the UK will be lining up to take on this fast but challenging course with a place in the European Championships in Belgrade at stake for the elite.
For Harriers it’s our second opportunity to rack up points in this years Mid Lancs cross country campaign after a great start at Townley Park last month. It is also an un-missable chance to experience the excitement of a top class athletics event. Live commentary, post race video reports and coverage in the national athletics press all add to the atmosphere as runners of all abilities mix it with the best in the country. If you take part in just one cross country event this this season then make sure its Sefton Park.
The timetable is a little earlier than the rest of our cross country season with the Senior Ladies setting off at 1:20pm, and the men at 2pm. Full course and race times can be found here: http://www.midlancs.org.uk/XC/SeftonParkMap13.pdf
Spikes are recommended for what is usually a fairly muddy but technical course. Be there!
