The third in the series of four Harrock Hill races took place on 24th July. Representing Harriers were Dave Collins, Jayne Taylor, Mike Harris, Shona Taylor and for the first time this year at Harrock – Steve Nicholls.
Although there had been some rain in July, the mud bath Dave was hoping for never materialised.
It was the smallest field of the year but there was still 147 runners. The reduced numbers would hopefully mean less congestion at stiles and gates. This summer’s warm weather was continuing which meant Harrock would be it’s usual tough test.
The race was quieter than previous editions, the local cows were chilled and indifferent to the passing sweaty runners.
First home for Wigan was Steve, who seemed to enjoy his run.
Stephen Nicholls 36.04
David Collins 37.17
Michael Harris 38.28
Jayne Taylor 39.40
Shona Taylor 51.01
Jayne managed to shave a second off July’s run but for the rest of us times were all down on previous attempts but I don’t think anyone had anything left in the tank, perhaps it was due to the hot weather.
Still there is an opportunity to do it one more time this year on August 28th 7.30 start. It would be great to see a massive turnout from Harriers for one of the last mid-week races this summer.
Come on you know you want to!
