Amberswood 10k latest news

IMAG1868Wigan Harriers race organisers have been out on the Amberswood race route over the weekend and despite the recent rain the course is still looking quite firm underfoot. We generally recommend a trail shoe for the event, but if we get a little sunshine over the next few weeks even a road shoe may do! It really is a lovely place to run and hard to believe you are in the heart of Industrial Wigan when surrounded with such greenery.

We also have some exciting news about race day prizes. Along with the usual prizes for all the speedy runners at the front of the race, we will also be awarding a special prize: The first unattached local runner with a WN postcode will receive free membership to Wigan Harriers. The prize will be transferable. for those not lucky enough to bag that prize, we are also offering half price membership for the remainder of the year to every race entrant at Amberswood. Quick, slow, new runner or old hand are all welcome to come and train with us and have a bit of company and coaching for next years race!

In order to keep down on costs the race numbers will be collected on the day, so we are asking all competitors to arrive with plenty of time to park up and register before the event, (2.5k or 10k). Registration for both events opens at 9.30am. There is limited free parking available on site, with residential parking available in the streets around the club.

Jayne Taylor will be getting in touch with the Marshall shortly to let you know about arrangements on the day.

Watch this space for Amberswood updates in the coming days!
